Mutesi Shivan born on September 15, 2013. Shivan lives in the lakeside village of Namavundu, where access to education is often overlooked. In her community, many families believe that teaching children how to fish is enough for their future, and as a result, Shivan and her siblings have never had the opportunity to attend school. She wants to change the narrative—not just for herself, but for the children in her village. Her biggest dream is to become a teacher and one day open a school to help other kids from similar backgrounds get the education they deserve.
