Waiswa Joseph, Age 12

Joseph is a bright and determined 12-year-old boy, born on July 4th, 2012. He loves playing soccer and dreams of one day becoming a medical doctor — a dream fueled by a desire to help others and bring healing to those in need. But Joseph’s life has been far from easy. He was raised by a single mother who suffered from epilepsy. Despite her condition, she worked tirelessly to provide him with the basics — food, clothing, and education. Her health challenges made life difficult, but her love for Joseph kept her going. Joseph’s father abandoned the family upon learning about his mother's condition, leaving her to face the hardships alone. Tragically, as her epilepsy worsened, it affected her mental health. Eventually, she developed severe complications, and in a heartbreaking turn of events, she was attacked by a gang and lost her life. Now, Joseph is completely alone — with no one to support his education, no one to provide daily meals, and no one to help him pursue the dream his mother once fought so hard to protect.
